Another act named for summer 2020 at Budapest Park
This summer, Heaven Street Seven are treating their huge fan base to two shows in honour of the band’s 25th anniversary. HS7 are due to play Budapest Park on 1 August, as well as the prestigious Fishing on Orfű festival near Pécs in southern Hungary.
Popular purveyors of guitar-based tunes, Heaven Street Seven – heveny to fans – delivered numerous jangly hits in English and Hungarian over the course of nine albums and two decades, helping to define domestic pop culture and establishing Anglo-style indie in Hungary.
The band were formed by students in Esztergom in 1995, releasing their first album that same year at their own expense. First singing entirely in English, they switched to Hungarian for millennial album Cukor, and the hits just kept on coming. Favourites included Hiphop Mjúzik, Ne nézzen úgy rám and Hol van az a krézi srác.
Their upcoming show at Budapest Park will take place exactly five years after the last – but the boys insist that it’s just a one-off tribute rather than an emphatic return.
Budapest Park is a prime outdoor music venue close to the Müpa cultural centre in south Pest.
